About a year ago, I took my dog Bella Pepper to the vet and was told that she was overweight and needed to lose 10 to 15 pounds. I felt like we lead parallel lives!
While I always took her on long walks, I used to mix ground turkey and vegetables into her dry food because she wouldn?t eat it otherwise. I would also give her several snacks and table scraps when she gazed up at me while I was cooking dinner.?
But not anymore! I got rid of all the ?extras? from her diet. Now she eats two cups of dry dog food and gets a dog biscuit after her walks, but no more of the table food that was causing her to pack on the pounds. I do give her baby carrots, bell peppers, and apple slices periodically, but that?s it.
These changes have paid off. On our last vet visit, she had lost 10 pounds! It really does prove that simple changes add up. Now we are both on a healthy eating and exercise plan, and it shows! We really do lead parallel lives. And now, it?s a good thing.
