UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is expected to face Chad Mendes at UFC 133 in Philadelphia. The possible fight was announced via the post-fight press conference, and would likely headline the UFC?s return to Philadelphia.
Aldo is fresh off last night?s ?Fight of the Night? victory over challenger Mark Hominick. Aldo was noncommittal when asked about the fight stating:
?To me, I?m not sure if that?s the fight or not. I just want to take a week off and just think about it and rest my body. But I?m an employee, and whoever [Dana White] wants me to fight, that?s who I?ve got to go and take out. So I?m prepared to fight whoever they put in front of me any time.?
Mendes is undefeated in his fight career and coming off a victory in his UFC debut against Michiro Omigawa. The Team Alpha Male product was 4-0 in his WEC career before the promotion was folded into the UFC.
While UFC 133 is still technically unofficial, the featherweight championship scrap is expected to join an already stacked card with bouts with Phil Davis versus Rashad Evans, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira versus Rich Franklin, and Vitor Belfort versus Yoshiro Akiyama.
